Current WIPs(and the tags I’ll try to remember to put them under)

Original works
  • Robin Hood, but gay and western fantasy. No official name. Erotica/Romance fairy tale retelling. There griffins and hippogriffs and unicorns. Miscommunication and misunderstandings with some make up sex. #RobinHoodWestern
  • Unnamed Fantasy Western Thrupple. Still working on a title. Erotica/Romance. Clara is a runaway human female who finds herself in the company of a pair of outlaws, the elf Andrew and the Orc Herbert. If I get disowned by my father this story will be why. #OrcElfHuman
  • Tricera-tops, monster fucking and probably needs a better title. Ideally will be part of a series for now nammed Jur-ASS-ic. Traveling through a portal to another planet, Kathrin doesn’t know the language, the beings are all strange. They are vaguly humanoid except they’re covered in scales or feathers and have some features that remind her too much of earth’s dinosaurs. And the one who saved her when she was nearly eaten, she is horrified to find herself attracted to. It’s not like humans have fated mates for her to understand the concept, outside of books after all. And Tegid will do anything for his fated mate. #Tricera-tops and #Jur-ASS-ic
  • You Spino Me Right ‘Round - is an even rougher working title for another novella/novelette in the series. Vitale is happy alone. He keeps people out of his territory by any means necessary. Ignores the invites to celebrate the finding of the prince’s mate. A strange little mass of flesh that Vitale thinks would have made a better snack than mate. So when he stumbles upon another of those strange beings he is horrified to discover the small creature with wide terrified eyes smells an awful lot like his mate. #YouSpinoMe
  • Super Gay Ass Fucking Comic - comic script with a romance between the super hero and the villain. Nik was the poster boy for what a hero should be. But when he’s assigned to guard Lykos, a former villain who had tried to kill his family, so the man can build weapons for the government, Nik starts to see the world in a different light. And the good guys don’t seem to be standing in the light any more, more like they seem to be in the light only because they keep so many others locked in the dark. And to top it off he fears he may be falling in love with Lykos. #SGAFC
  • I’ve got a couple.others I’m picking at but not actively working on, all in the romance/erotica genre. #OriginalWork
  • Various OC drabbles too. Some of my OCs aren’t in stories other than quick snips here and there. #OCStory
Fanfictions
  • Firefly - Jayne/Simon ABO AU. Simon had kept his secret since he presented, no one wanted an omega doctor after all, and his father couldn’t let him throw away his potential. But he was close to running out of them so told the captain. He went to the Black market for a new supply, with Jayne as back up. Unfortunately things then went sideways. Falling into his second heat ever Simon’s omega latches on to the nearest alpha he knows, Jayne. And even when back on Serenity the omega can’t stand anyone else. #Jayne/SimonABO
  • Avatar(Cameron movies) - Tsu'Tey/Jake Sully ABO au based off This fic on AO3. Jake never bothered to think about how his brother had been an omega, and how that would.habe affected the avatar he now claimed as his own. Going into an unexpected heat just before home tree was attacked was definitely not in the plan. And now he will do anything to prove himself to his new mate. It may be more omega instincts than a beta could ever understand but Jake’s used to flying by the seat of his pants. #TsuteyXJakeABO
  • I’ve got other small ones here and there that pop up too. Usually one shots. #Fanfiction

You go to the Goodreads review of a really well written and inventive literary fiction by an acclaimed, talented author, preferably an author of colour from the global south. "Too pretentious, trying too hard to be clever and deep" says the most popular review by someone with a big booktok/bookstagram. You go to their page. Their most favourite and highest rated books are The Raven Cycle, If We Were Villains, Daisy Jones and the Six and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. You close Goodreads, not merely with disappointment, but with a deeper understanding of literary comprehension in the 21st century.

Said this to a dear and much-loved friend today, but I think maybe we all might need to see it:

  • Long-fic is not the rent you pay to be a part of fandom.
  • Fic, full-stop, is not the rent you pay to be a part of fandom.
  • Art is not the rent you pay to be a part of fandom.
  • Constantly creating is not the rent you pay to be a part of fandom.

Fandom is a community, not a corporation, your productivity is not a payment you have to make to be here.

fantasyandhorrorgeek asked:

Greetings of the day, dear editors. The current call states that excerpts from longer works will be considered. I have a fantasy horror story with an erotic chemistry between two characters. I am eager to know if I may submit it. If yes, please tell me what the rules are. Also, if the erotic bits have other elements in between (such as conversation of characters around them which is not relevant to what's developing between these two people), then should those be eliminated? Thanks!

newsmutproject answered:

Greetings! And thanks for your interest in Erato II.

You can submit an excerpt from any story so long as

  1. It’s sexy enough to leave the reader breathless (yes, this is a poetic way of saying “vibes,” though on the other hand editor T.C. Mill does catch herself holding her breath when she reads something very hot. So.)
  2. It follows the rest of our guidelines about length, consent, etc. and ideally hits a our buttons for sex positivity, body positivity, diverse representation, and great writing.
  3. For the sake of the readers’ experience, excerpts should likely undergo some editing to stand alone. All our accepted stories are line edited and I’m happy to admit “I don’t get this reference, can you clarify or cut?” as part of those edits, but before even submitting the story, I would do some revisions to reduce perplexment in the acquisitions team (and to avoid the story being rejected because it’s too confusing to get into or contains so much background information it bogs down the pace).
  4. The story is not under contract that forbids you from excerpting or reprinting it, and other such legal and logistical caveats.

Did I daydream this, or was there a website for writers with like. A ridiculous quantity of descriptive aid. Like I remember clicking on " inside a cinema " or something like that. Then, BAM. Here's a list of smell and sounds. I can't remember it for the life of me, but if someone else can, help a bitch out <3

Every 21st century piece of writing advice: Make us CARE about the character from page 1! Make us empathize with them! Make them interesting and different but still relatable and likable!

Every piece of classic literature: Hi. It's me. The bland everyman whose only purpose is to tell you this story. I have no actual personality. Here's the story of the time I encountered the worst people I ever met in my life. But first, ten pages of description about the place in which I met them.

sandersstudies

Modern writing advice: Yes your protagonist should have flaws but ultimately we should root for them and like them from the beginning :)

Charles Dickens: Here is the worst ugliest rudest meanest nastiest bitch you’ve ever met in your life.

sandersstudies

Modern writing advice: Make sure your POV character goes through a significant arc! Make sure they are changed by the narrative! Make sure they learn a lesson!

Narrators of every book of the 19th century: the lesson I learned is these people fucking suck, sayonara you freaks

sandersstudies

Modern writing advice: It’s all about the character overcoming obstacles and learning! They learn their lesson so they can fix their mistakes and make good choices in the future! It’s a character arc! It’s called growth! Readers love it!

Everyone from ancient times through the 19th century: would you like to watch a Guy fuck up twenty times in a row

Somewhere or other, C. S. Lewis points out (and I'm paraphrasing here) that every era of writing has its own tropes and its own blind spots; its own failings and its own successes. This is why it's important to read in lots of different eras: so you can see what does and doesn't work, in the long run, and be able to make your own informed choices about how to write.

hit the ancients and went: wanna watch this character fuck a god? its only 12 of the 20 mistakes they make 5 of the other 8 is saying the god was bad in bed

Belmont Springs is the kind of town that no one ever leaves, and Harris has spent eighteen years coming to terms with that. His youngest brother, Ace, might have a better chance at getting out on a football scholarship, and Levi - well, Levi seems content to stay in their little dirt road town, at least for now.

You would think that this would change once a beast shows up and starts killing the local animals, but it doesn’t. The lives of the McCormick brothers’ stay exactly the same… Right up until that very same beast takes a bite out of Levi’s shoulder,

And this is the thing about small towns: everyone knows your name, but there’s never anyone to turn around and actually offer up help. Instead, the three brothers are on their own to figure out exactly what attacked Levi that night.

But with dead dogs in the fields, raw meat on the dinner table, and a full moon every month, they have a short time frame to work with. Harris needs to make a decision. Is he going to let his brother meet the same end as the werewolves in the black and white films Ace loves so much - or will he come up with another option first?

Check out Howl HERE!

Andrew sits there next to the hole in the ground for what feels like an eternity, just staring into the dark. Silence. It’s started to drizzle again, a light misting of icy rain. It’s cold, but in a distant sort of way. The blood on his hands is cold now, tacky as it starts to dry, and he can’t stop crying; there’sno way down the shaft. It’s a straight drop. Not too far. He could hear the thump when Austin hit the bottom.

Still, far enough that even Andrew knows jumping down there would end with a broken ankle at best, a broken leg at worst. “A-Austin?”

But it’s still just silence, outside of his own sniffling. He finally rocks backwards, dropping onto his ass, legs half splayed out in front of him. Fingers slide under his glasses, shoving them up so that he can press his palms against his eyes.

It’s raining harder now. He only thinks to move because his camera’s still laying on the ground. He shoves it into the bag still strung across his chest so the water doesn’t ruin it, and then hauls himself onto his knees, then his feet. His legs are shaking, and he hurts, and he just let his best friend fall –God, and didn’t those papers say that the monsters live in the mines? That the gorehounds are from there originally?

Andrew needs to get him out.
